What makes rope different
A rope lead is exactly what it sounds like: a round, climbing-style rope instead of flat webbing. The construction changes three things — strength, grip and comfort.
Where rope wins
- Grip when it matters. When a dog lunges, flat nylon folds into a thin edge that cuts into your palm. Round rope keeps its shape, so the force spreads across your whole hand. If you've ever had a lead burn, you know why this matters.
